Crafting

I have been so busy "crafting" this week and I love it! We had a very motivating speaker at MOPS this week. She talked about her book The ME Project. She reminded us that although being a mother is SO important and fulfilling she didn't want us to forget about the personal goals we have for OURSELVES (Something mothers don't often think about anymore! :)) She had us write down our goals and one that I wrote down was sewing. She definitly motivated me to follow that passion. Here are the FOUR things I have made the last couple of days.
**I very special thank you to my wonderful husband who watched the little one so I could make a 'baby free' trip to JoAnn's and slowly look through all the fabric.**
1. Side rail crib covers... (yes the front rail cover was not enough for this little chewer)

2. Fabric covered J for Jeremiah's room.

3. John Deere burp rag  (many more to come!!!)

4. And my favorite- Tie applique shirt (stitching is not perfect but I think that is what makes it so unique!)

Joys and challenges

These past 2 weeks have been so fun in the Meek house. Jeremiah is soaking up EVERYTHING! He tries to copy all the sounds he hears-from our words, toy noises, dogs barking, or fire truck sirens.
He also is waving "bye-bye" and signing the word "more". It is so fun to see him learning so much. It reminded me of why I chose teaching as my career. The joy of seeing children learn makes my heart SO happy and seeing my own child learn makes my heart burst! I can only imagine the joy I have to look forward to.

These past 2 weeks have also been very challenging. Jeremiah has become very mobile. He crawls as fast as a horse and pulls himself up to everything. I find myself saying "No, no Jeremiah" mulitiple times a day. Most of the time he doesn't realize what he is about to do would be painful. He keeps me on my toes that is for sure!

Jon and I were just talking about how many books we read while I was pregnant to prepare for the little one- how to feed him, bath him, burp him, and put him to sleep. I think we have that down now but I have a feeling the hard stuff has yet to come. Anyone have any good suggestions on Christian parenting books?

How can you resist this smile?!?

New Home

This will be a VERY slow process but I will try and show you updates pictures of our new house and the work we have done. I have a lot of decorating, painting, and shopping to do before our house is perfect but I think it may take YEARS. Yikes... what a big job. Thankfully I have a husband who is great at painting and yard work. Thanks to his hard work we have gotten alot done in the month and half we have lived here.

It is SO nice. Lots of cement for Jeremiah to ride a bike around and lots of grass to play ball on.

We are keeping our eye out for the perfect dining room table and maybe a few sitting chairs.

Chew, chew, chew

I have a little one who's new hobby was to chew on his crib rail instead of sleeping.

I ran to Babies R Us that day and bought a rail cover. BUT...our crib is so wide that it didn't fit.

Since I got this amazing sewing machine for christmas I decided to make my own cover. (YES! It's the same machine they use on project runway!!)
Here is how it turned out! I love it!

No more chewing for him!
Let me know what you think of my first project.

It's time!

I never thought I would, be here I am..... writing in a blog! I'm not promising anything exciting. My inspiration comes from following friend blogs and design blogs!

My wonderful husband surprised me with a sewing maching for Christmas so I am hoping to keep you updated on our family AND my newest sewing creations. I am taking a class at JoAnn's next week so I am hoping to learn a few things.

I attempted my first project today. Pictures to come!
